Backup from Storage Snapshots

NAKIVO Backup & Replication can create backups of VMware vSphere VMs hosted on NetApp and HPE devices directly from storage snapshots instead of regular VM snapshots. This approach reduces the impact of data protection activities on the production environment.

Backup from Storage Snapshots

Why Back Up from Storage Snapshots?

Data protection activities place a significant load on virtual production environments, especially when large volumes of VM data are processed. Unlike regular VM snapshots used to process data for backups, storage snapshots have less impact on production storage.

Use backup from storage snapshots to create agentless, image-based, incremental backups of VMware vSphere VMs hosted on NetApp and HPE devices.

In addition to being lighter on your production resources, using backup from storage snapshots allows you to create point-in-time copies of your machines more often, thus improving your recovery point objectives (RPOs). You can also reduce storage overhead and maintain business operations without interruptions, even during data protection activities.
