When critical VMs that require tight RTOs fail, a full recovery can be too long to afford. Instead, boot VMs directly from backups. Instant VM recovery takes seconds, so you can continue IT operations with minimum downtime.

Testing and backup verification

A booted VM can be used as a temporary environment to verify backups as well as test system updates and application patches. When you discard the booted VM, NAKIVO Backup & Replication removes the VM data and cancels the changes you made.

Permanent VM recovery

You can permanently recover the booted VM to production storage using the hypervisor’s native live migration feature. Alternatively, you can create a replica and discard the booted VM.

How it works

The instant VM recovery feature creates a new VM on the target host and exposes the VM disks from the backup repository. Exposed disks are mounted to the new VM as iSCSI targets. The feature works automatically and doesn’t require any setup. All you need is to choose a VM backup, a recovery point and the location to which to boot the VM.
