NEC HYDRAstor is a highly scalable disk-based grid storage that can be composed of multiple nodes and turned into a single storage pool with a capacity of up to 11.88 PB. The NAKIVO solution supports the system’s source-side deduplication technology, DataRedux, which ensures up to 95% smaller backup sizes. Smaller backups significantly cut the amount of additional storage you need to purchase and ensure faster transfer over the network.
NAKIVO’s solution supports NEC HYDRAstor systems v5.5.1 – 5.6.0 and NEC Storage HS Universal Express I/O Module Version v1.8.0 – 1.8.4.
Multi-Tiered Security Against Cyber Threats
Ensure that backup data sent to NEC HYDRAstor storage systems is secure. Use source-side backup encryption and set password-based encryption before sending backups over the network. You can also encrypt the network or the entire backup repository.
NAKIVO’s solution supports the NEC’s write-once-read-many (WORM) technology and allows you to make HYDRAstor backup repositories immutable. Not even the root user can lift immutability or modify data during the specified period of time. This way, you can rest assured that cyber criminals can’t succeed in their attempts to access or alter any information.
Disruption-Free Data Protection
Using the performance features in NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can significantly reduce the impact of data protection workflows on your production environment and network load. The solution uses native change tracking technologies in Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere and Microsoft 365 to identify and write only changed data blocks to backups. You can also use LAN-free data transfer and network acceleration to improve backup speed. For more granular control over the network consumption during peak hours, set bandwidth throttling rules and limit transfer speeds.

The NAKIVO solution allows you to recover virtual and physical machines, files and application objects, Microsoft 365 and NAS data directly from deduplicated incremental backups. This way, you can ensure data availability under any circumstance, even in case of a production site failure. The solution supports Site Recovery functionality and enables you to configure automated failover and failback workflows that you can run with 1 click.
Moreover, NEC HYDRAstor automatically detects disk/node failures and performs data reconstruction to ensure minimal downtime in case the storage fails.
